Set up your Ledger device
Follow these steps to set up your new Ledger hardware wallet and secure your crypto assets.
1. Get ready
Before you start, make sure you have:
- Your Ledger device (Nano S, Nano S Plus, or Nano X)
- The USB cable that came with your device
- A computer or smartphone with internet access
- About 20 minutes to complete the setup
2. Choose your device
Select the Ledger device you're setting up:

3. Install Ledger Live
Download and install Ledger Live, our desktop and mobile application to manage your crypto assets.

4. Initialize your device
Connect your Nano S Plus to your computer using the USB cable and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device.
5. Create your PIN code
Your device will guide you through creating a secure PIN code to protect access to your wallet.
6. Write down your recovery phrase
The most important step! Your recovery phrase is the only way to recover your funds if your device is lost or damaged.

3. Install Ledger Live
Download and install Ledger Live, our desktop and mobile application to manage your crypto assets.

4. Charge your device
Before starting, make sure your Nano X is fully charged using the provided USB cable.
5. Initialize your device
Power on your Nano X and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device.
6. Create your PIN code
Your device will guide you through creating a secure PIN code to protect access to your wallet.
7. Write down your recovery phrase
The most important step! Your recovery phrase is the only way to recover your funds if your device is lost or damaged.
